Bollywood box-office report of the week : 26 july 2012

The coming Friday will witness the release of Alt Entertainment's KYAA SUPER KOOL HAIN HUM and the Manish Manikpuri directed AALAAP. While the front runner is going to be the adult comedy, KSKHH, but the discerning audience will definitely appreciate the Manish Manikpuri directed AALAAP.

All the three releases of last week, the Suneil Shetty, Rajpal Yadav and Udita Goswami starrer MERE DOST PICTURE ABHI BAAKI HAI, the internationally acclaimed GATTU and Orange Canvas' CHALLO DRIVER, embarked on weak to horrifyingly low starts, and needless to add have all been miserable flops.

Netting 54.50 crore during the opening week COCKTAIL is already an above average fare. The Saif, Deepika and Diana starrer has also done very well in the overseas (good in US) grossing ?555,000 from UK and $1,027,200 from the US till the second weekend (20-22 July).

While BOL BACHCHAN dropped heavily at many places in the second week due to the strong opposition from COCKTAIL, but still managed good shares due to a healthy second weekend (especially Saturday & Sunday). During the week the Rohit Shetty directed film collected 3 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1.50 crore from Ahmedabad, 40 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 35 lakhs from Pune, 19.50 lakhs from Nasik, 7.20 lakhs from Goa, 4 lakhs from Belgaum, 2 crore from Delhi city, 30 lakhs from Noida, 24.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 24.50 lakhs from Kanpur, 30.50 lakhs from Lucknow, 12 lakhs from Agra, 7.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 5 lakhs from Aligarh, 40 lakhs from Gurgaon, 8 lakhs from Faridabad, 4.20 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 4.35 lakhs from Panipat, 10.20 lakhs from Chandigarh, 8 lakhs from Jalandhar, 3.35lakhs from Amritsar, 4.20 lakhs from Ludhiana, 2.30 lakhs from Bhatinda, 3 lakhs from Ambala, 40 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Darjeeling, 5 lakhs from Siliguri, 5 lakhs from Guwahati, 35 lakhs from Nagpur, 21.50 lakhs from Raipur, 45 lakhs from Indore, 6.35 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 25 lakhs from Bhopal, 60 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 10 lakhs from Ajmer, 4.35 lakhs from Bikaner, 12.50 lakhs from Kota, 45 lakhs from Hyderabad, 10 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 40 lakhs from Bangalore and 2.55 lakhs from Visakhapatnam. With another 23.50 crore, BOL BACHCHAN has netted 85 crore in two weeks from India and is a clean hit. The Ajay, Abhishek and Asin starrer has also done very well in the overseas (good in US) grossing ?387,300 from UK and $1,156,100 from the US till the third weekend (20-22 July).

In the meantime Anurag Kashyap's GANGS OF WASSEYPUR added some more to its kitty as it collected 15 from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 12 lakhs from Delhi city, 2.15 lakhs from Noida, 2.20 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 5.50 lakhs from Lucknow, 1 lakh from Allahabad, 3 lakhs from Gurgaon, 2 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1.50 lakhs from Indore, 1.25 lakhs from Hyderabad and 2.20 lakhs from Bangalore. Adding another 75 lakhs, GANGS OF WASSEYPUR has netted 28.75 lakhs in four weeks from India, and may finally end up as a semi-hit

Concluding for the final time with Prabhu Dheva's Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha starrer, ROWDY RATHORE, the film adds another 25 lakhs for a final tally of 135 crore in seven weeks from India, and is a blockbuster hit. The film has also done quite decently in the overseas grossing $3.75 million (consolidated).
