Bollywood box-office report of the week : 28 november 2013

This Friday will see the release of the much awaited Tigmanshu Dhulia directed Saif-Sonakshi starrer, BULLETT RAJA. Given the superb promotion, popularity of the sound track, as also the anticipation factor for a well-directed masala entertainer, will surely result in a good start for the film, more so at the massy centres.

Last Friday's major releases, Sunny Deol's SINGH SAAB THE GREAT and the Imran-Kareena starrer GORI TERE PYAAR MEIN!, went the expected and predicted way. Though neither of the two set the box-office on fire, it was the Sunny starrer SINGH SAAB THE GREAT which beat the Karan Johar project GORI TERE PYAAR MEIN! comprehensively by netting 16 crore during the opening weekend. Just for records, GORI TERE PYAAR MEIN! could barely manage 9 crore during the same period. In the overseas neither of the two films managed a good show but it was a reverse story as GORI TERE PYAAR MEIN! was slightly ahead of SINGH SAAB THE GREAT. Having said that it was GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA which fared better than both the above mentioned releases, even in its second weekend.

Meanwhile Sanjay Leela Bhansali's grand comeback project, the Ranveer- Deepika starrer, GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM LEELA, moved from strength-to-strength during the opening weekend, and was very consistent even in the weekdays. During the first week, RAM-LEELA collected 9.50 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1.75 crore from Ahmedabad, 92 lakhs from Surat, 86.50 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 2.65 crore from Pune, 48.50 lakhs from Nasik, 10 lakhs from Goa, 12 lakhs from Belgaum, 5.75 crore from Delhi city, 89 lakhs from Noida, 71.25 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 40 lakhs from Kanpur, 70.25 lakhs from Lucknow, 18.75 lakhs from Agra, 19.25 lakhs from Allahabad, 7 lakhs from Meerut, 4.50 lakhs from Aligarh, 1.15 crore from Gurgaon, 19 lakhs from Faridabad, 7.50 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 37.50 lakhs from Chandigarh, 3 lakhs from Jalandhar, 11.75 lakhs from Amritsar, 15.25 lakhs from Ludhiana, 5.50 lakhs from Bhatinda, 5 lakhs from Ambala, 5 lakhs from Jammu, 1.35 crore from Calcutta, 2 lakhs from Darjeeling, 13.50 lakhs from Siliguri, 10 lakhs from Dhanbad, 15.50 lakhs from Bhubhaneshwar, 4 lakhs from Guwahati, 81 lakhs from Nagpur, 23.50 lakhs from Jabalpur, 50 lakhs from Raipur, 1 crore from Indore (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 13.75 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 7 cinemas unreceived), 55 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 2 crore from Jaipur, 20 lakhs from Ajmer, 7.50 lakhs from Bikaner, 40 lakhs from Kota, 38.50 lakhs from Udaipur, 2.15 crore from Hyderabad, 26.50 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 2.20 crore from Bangalore, 4.50 lakhs from Mangalore, 6.75 lakhs from Vijayawada, 9 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 9.50 lakhs from Madras, 2.65 lakhs from Coimbatore and 7.50 lakhs from Kochi. Netting 78 crore during the opening week RAM-LEELA is all set to be at least a semi-hit, if not more! The film has also performed superbly in the overseas (especially US) grossing $6.25m with ?665,500 from UK and $2,270,000 from the US till the second weekend (22-24 November).

The other release of the week, the Kangana Ranaut starrer, RAJJO, has failed miserably and is a washout.

Concluding with Rakesh Roshan's Hrithik- Priyanka starrer, KRRISH 3, the film saw a big fall (for the first time) as it collected 1 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 23 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 7 lakhs from Surat, 5.50 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 25 lakhs from Pune, 6.25 lakhs from Nasik, 1.50 lakhs from Goa, 2.15 lakhs from Belgaum, 80 lakhs from Delhi city, 13.50 lakhs from Noida, 12.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 9 lakhs from Kanpur, 16.50 lakhs from Lucknow, 2.50 lakhs from Agra, 3.15 lakhs from Allahabad, 1.50 lakhs from Meerut, 2.75 lakhs from Aligarh, 13.50 lakhs from Gurgaon, 2.75 lakhs from Faridabad, 6.15 lakhs from Chandigarh, 3 lakhs from Jalandhar, 2 lakhs from Amritsar, 2 lakhs from Ludhiana, 1 lakh from Bhatinda, 1 lakh from Ambala, 25 lakhs from Calcutta, 3.15 lakhs from Siliguri, 2.50 lakhs from Dhanbad, 1.55 lakhs from Bhubhaneshwar, 8.65 lakhs from Nagpur, 5.75 lakhs from Jabalpur, 1.75 lakhs from Raipur, 13.25 lakhs from Indore (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 2.75 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 6 lakhs from Bhopal, 41.50 lakhs from Jaipur, 3 lakhs from Ajmer, 2 lakhs from Bikaner, 3.50 lakhs from Kota, 3.75 lakhs from Udaipur, 25.55 lakhs from Hyderabad, 4.50 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 40 lakhs from Bangalore, 1 lakh from Vijayawada , 1.25 lakhs from Visakhapatnam and 2 lakhs from Madras. Adding another 9 crore, KRRISH 3 has netted 186 crore in three weeks from India. Given the fact that the dubbed version(s) has added another 10-11 crore, KRRISH 3 is a blockbuster. The film has also done superbly in the overseas grossing $8.5m with ?830,000 from UK and $2,270,000 from the US, till the fourth weekend (22-24 November).
