Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has been a major success at the Indian box office, capitalizing on the partial holiday boost due to Janmashtami. Despite a noticeable drop in Monday collections, the film has continued to perform strongly.
In its first week, Stree 2 raked in an impressive ₹307.80 crore in India. The second weekend added significantly to its total, with the film earning ₹19.30 crore on its second Friday, ₹33.80 crore on its second Saturday, ₹40.75 crore on its second Sunday, and ₹20.20 crore on its second Monday. As of the second Monday, Stree 2 has amassed a total of ₹421.85 crore at the Indian box office.
According to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film is now firmly on track to surpass the ₹500 crore mark domestically, with little competition expected in September. The upcoming releases include Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency, Sidhant Chaturvedi’s Yudhra, and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s The Buckingham Murders, but none are likely to pose a significant threat to Stree 2’s box office dominance, particularly in mass-market regions.
On the global stage, Stree 2 has also performed exceptionally well, grossing ₹589 crore worldwide. This includes ₹498 crore from the India gross box office and ₹91 crore from overseas collections, as reported by Maddock Films.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 continues the story of Vicky and his friends as they attempt to rid Chanderi of the terrifying Sarkata. The film features a stellar cast, including Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. It also includes special appearances by Akshay Kumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Varun Dhawan. Director Amar Kaushik even makes a cameo in the song “Aaj Ki Raat.”
As a sequel to the 2018 hit Stree, Stree 2 is part of the growing Maddock Supernatural Universe, which also includes films like Roohi (2021), Bhediya (2022), and Munjya (2024). The success of Stree 2 further cements the franchise’s popularity and potential for future installments.
