Kangana Ranaut recently took a strong stance against patriarchal films that she believes promote violence in society. During a promotional interview for her upcoming directorial venture Emergency, she criticized Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 2023 blockbuster Animal, which starred Ranbir Kapoor as a violent and vengeful criminal. Kangana expressed her concerns about such films, stating that they glorify extreme violence without any regard for the consequences or societal impact.

In her critique, Kangana highlighted the problematic nature of these films, saying, “Even now, look at the kind of films that are making waves at the box office. Patriarchal films create chaos. It makes you wonder where all this applause and whistles are coming from. If young men start taking axes and going on murderous sprees, without any law and order to stop them, what will happen? It’s as if the entire legal system has collapsed. They shed blood, fill up piles of bodies—for what? Pure thrill and intoxication. There’s no sense of public welfare, no concern for borders or society. Just aimless violence.”

Kangana said, “Abhi bhi jis tarah ki filmein aap dekh lijiye. Box office pe kya bawaal machati hain patriarchal filmein. Oh ho ho ho. Dekh ke lagta hai kahan se nikal rahe hain ye log taaliyan, seetiyan maarne. Kulhadi le ke agar ladke nikle, aur khoono khoon maar kaat sirf kulhadi le ke nikle hue hain. Na unko koi law and order poochh raha hai. Machine guns le ke wo schoolon mein jate hain. Jaisi ki police hai hi nahi, jaise ki uske consequences hain hi nahi. Law and order toh sara mar hi gaya hai, bataiye. Aur khoono khoon karte hain, lashon ke dher bhar gaye hain. Kyun? Masti, chhaai hui hai. Na wo lok kalyan ke liye hai, na wo sarhadon ke liye hai, na wo jan kalyan ke liye hai. Bas masti mein, mast hain. Bas drugs kar ke mast hain.

Following the success of Animal last year, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga had expressed interest in working with Kangana in the future. However, Kangana turned down the idea, responding with a sharp remark: “Please don’t ever give me any role otherwise your alpha male heroes will become feminist, and then your films will also be beaten. You make blockbusters, the film industry needs you.”

Kangana is currently focused on the release of her highly anticipated film Emergency, in which she not only stars as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi but also directs. The film explores the turbulent period of the Emergency in India, imposed by Indira Gandhi in 1975, and is set to release on September 6. The movie has generated significant interest, as it tackles one of the most controversial chapters in Indian history.
