This Friday's new releases include Ashutosh Gowariker's KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY, the Ram Gopal Varma directed RAKHT CHARITRA 2 and Subhash Kapoor's PHAS GAYA RE OBAMA. The front runner by a significant margin is obviously going to be the Abhishek-Deepika starrer, KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SE, followed by the other two releases. Though the opening of KHJJS will not be earth shattering, it is expected that a positive word of mouth will work in favour of the film.
Moving on to last week's releases, the opening of the Imran-Deepika starrer, BREAK KE BAAD, was a bit of an anticlimax, especially after the success of I HATE LUV STORYS. The below 30 crore film saw a dull to weak start across India and there was no improvement during the weekend. Having said that the impressive recoveries from non-theatrical revenue streams may just about make BREAK KE BAAD an earning proposition, despite a poor theatrical run. The Danish Aslam directed film is also rather ordinary in the Overseas grossing ?85,709 from UK during the opening weekend (26-28 November) and $310,329 from US for a five day weekend (24-28 November). The other releases of the week, Sunny Deol's much delayed KHUDA KASAM while the Sharman-Naseer starrer ALLAH KE BANDEY saw a dull to weak opening, but KHUDA KASAM is expected to do decently at small centres.
