This Friday, sorry Wednesday will witness the grand opening of the Salman-Kareena starrer, BODYGUARD. And if it happens to be Eid as well, most first day records are bound to be shattered! The film is expected to open at 2,250 screens in India and 475 screens in the Overseas and may well see a 55-60 crore opening during the extended 5-day weekend. The other Wednesday release, Shoaib Mansoor's superbly crafted hard-hitting Pakistani film, BOL, will be no match for BODYGUARD, but will find patronage in some pockets. Two days later (2nd September) Anurag Kashyap's THAT GIRL IN YELLOW BOOTS will also release, but like most Kashyap ventures this one too will only have to be satisfied with critical acclaim.
All the releases of last Friday, namely SHABRI, CHITKABREY – SHADES OF GREY, YEH DOORIYAN, RIVAAZ and STAND BY, have managed poor collections. And despite some of them being well made pay the price of releasing very close to a huge festival release, obviously BODYGUARD!
