This Friday will see two very interesting fares, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK's zoom-com GO GOA GONE and Karan Johar's teen coming-of-age fare GIPPI.
It is but obvious that the front runner will be the Saif-Kunal starrer GO GOA GONE, thanks to a very popular soundtrack, the director duo's impressive track record, and some superb and rib-tickling promotion. But with Karan Johar at the helm of affairs even GIPPI will be no pushover.
Last week's two major releases were Sanjay Gupta's SHOOTOUT AT WADALA and Viacom 18's BOMBAY TALKIES. Expectedly, SHOOTOUT AT WADALA appealed to the masses and managed to score, especially at the single screens in Mumbai-Maharashtra, CP Berar and Hyderabad-Nizam. The multiplexes were not on the same level. The film did manage a healthy weekend netting 25-26 crore (to be validated). Given the high costs, the film will have sustain till the next week as well, to be a plus fare. The other release, BOMBAY TALKIES, with a rock bottom budget of 6 crores and despite a limited release netted 5 crores plus during the opening weekend. Being a film more for prestige and aimed at the International festival circuits, BOMBAY TALKIES is likely to be a critical and commercial success, after the overseas release.
SHOOTOUT AT WADALA has done decently in the overseas grossing? 85,000 from the UK and $208,000 from the US during the opening weekend (3-5 May).

With another 1.50 crore, NAUTANKI SAALA has netted 23.50 crore in three weeks from India and is an above-average fare.
