Following its heart-winning performance at the glitzy Cannes Film Festival, Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa’s gripping film Homebound is on a fabulous festival run. The tear-jerking drama is now poised to leave a mark at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2025, under the Gala Presentations banner.
Cast Arrives in Style for TIFF
On September 10, Dharma Movies announced that the top three had arrived in Canada to promote the film. A chic picture of Ishaan, Janhvi, and Vishal was posted on social media, with the caption:
“Reporting live from Day 1 of @tiff_net – our cast of Homebound is all set!”
Janhvi Kapoor dazzled in a hand-embroidered chiffon saree with Kashmiri earrings, looking every inch of classic beauty. Ishaan Khatter went for a contemporary look in a sleeveless shirt and beige pants, finishing off with provocative shades. Vishal Jethwa remained ageless in a black tuxedo with bow tie, looking every inch a leading man.
A Story of Friendship and Injustice
Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, Homebound is the story of two rural North Indian village friends—one Dalit, one Muslim—who dream of becoming policeman. But as a year’s anticipation of their exam results starts to fall apart, their aspirations start to disintegrate. The film probes caste, religion, and social injustice, trying both their friendship and character.

A Global Collaboration
The movie has a star-studded list of producers in the form of Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Adar Poonawalla, Somen Mishra, and Marijke de Souza, while Martin Scorsese and Pravin Khairnar are executive producers.
With Homebound set to launch at TIFF 2025, it further highlights Indian storytelling on a world stage with heart, honesty, and determination.
