In the constantly changing landscape of Hindi cinema, there have been few actors who have entered as dramatically as Govinda has. By the time he was only 21 years old, the actor had already contracted a whopping 75 films a record that said a lot about his huge talent, charm, and popularity. Many years before most youths plan their careers, Govinda was a household name, entertaining the masses with his chart-toppers like Hero No. 1, Coolie No. 1, Dulhe Raja, Partner, and Had Kar Di Aapne.
In a recent podcast with Manish Paul, Govinda revealed how he had entered Bollywood on a whirlwind and how, he believed, divine intervention played a part. “It wasn’t me who decided the film line; God gave me the film line and said, ‘Bhaiya, take care of it,'” Govinda shared about his destiny-led journey into films.

One of the most enduring images from his early days was when he met the great Dilip Kumar, who worried about the young actor’s hectic workload. When informed that Govinda had committed to 75 films by 21, Dilip Kumar told him to drop 25 and concentrate on fewer films for better quality. “I was thinking how I will get back the money,” Govinda confessed. But he taught me the value of making the right choices. I took his advice and dropped 25 projects.”

This vital choice assisted Govinda in restoring direction in his career, attempting to balance the amount of work with important decisions. Yet the whirlwind pace cost him. “There was hardly time to breathe,” he admitted, describing the marathon shooting schedules and long hours.
