Saaho movie review: Not Katappa, Saaho has killed Baahubali

SAAHO movie review is here. The action thriller film is written and directed by Sujeeth and is made at a whooping budget of 350 crores – the most expensive movie in India. Made under the banner of UV creations and T-Series, SAAHO stars Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor marking their debut in Bollywood and south respectively. Shot simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, SAAHO released today – August 30, 2019 in Malayalam as well. Is it worth the hype?. Let’s find out in the movie review of SAAHO

Immediate reaction when the end credit rolls
There was a solid reason behind “Why did Katappa kill Baahubali?” and there is a solid mystery behind How on earth, did Sujeeth managed to blow 350 crores on this epic disaster. Sheer waste of time, money and energy. Kattapa ne nahi, Saaho ne Baahubali ko maara hai…

Unintentionally LOL moments
Quite a few but this one takes the cake. Towards the end Saaho (Prabhas) and Amritha (Shraddha Kapoor) are in the midst of solid gunfire. Amritha asks Saaho ‘Who are they? Pat comes a reply from Saaho “Fans” . The firing intensifies, Amritha asks again, “Why so violent then?”. Saaho shots back by saying “Die hard fans.”. so before my review begins, you must have taken your side. Now kindly let me begin my duty, Fans, die – hard of Prabhas if you are still here then my apologies.

The story of SAAHO
A power battle where a man uses an arsenal of weapons to battle a gang of heavily armed thugs in the city. The battle sees unrelated and unconnected episodes occurring in different parts of the globe intertwine in an unforeseen manner. The city is under fire and people’s lives are at risk, the one man has to give everything he has got to take the city back.

SAAHO movie review
This botched adventure that lasts 2 hrs 51 minutes seems to be a never ending era on screen that fails at multiple levels. Opens at some fictional Waaji City and we are introduced to a family of gangsters. An undercover cop Sidhant Nandan Saaho (Prabhas) with a dark past crosses paths and things go ttopsy-turvy. A bunch of stars from Once Upon A Time in Bollywood appear – Jackie Shroff, Mahesh Manjrekar, Tinnu Anand, and Chunky Pandey along with Arun Vijay and Malayalam actor/filmmaker Lal. But its Neil Nitin Mukesh who holds the key to something called ‘Black Box’ in a plot made out of Swiss cheese and a screenplay as easy, predictable and instant like those two minute noodles. SAAHO is a dopey mess brutally paralyzed by a convoluted script that completely lacks emotions. It’s a pity that Prabhas waited and wasted his time, stardom and credibility to this lifeless boredom.

Must be some good points, SAAHO is a 350 core movie
Yes, there are some extraordinary highlights otherwise this 350 core of a disaster couldn’t have been sold. The pre climax action can match any top Hollywood action extravaganza. Prabhas tries his best. Shraddha Kapoor is gorgeous. The background score packs a punch. Costumes by Thota Vijay Bhaskar, Ellawadi Leepakshi and Rocky S are marvelous. The movie is stylishly shot.

Final words
Big budget mainstream cinema starring a super star is a regular process. But it’s highly appalling and unbelievable to have a 350 crore epic disaster which ends as an embarrassment to all concern. The irony is this is that this is not going to end here. Very soon SAAHO will be a topic of national debate; experts will be digging through the rubble of this huge fiasco for a long time, trying to figure out who actually killed BAAHUBALI – kattapa or Saaho?
