Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited comedy-drama Son of Sardaar 2 hit theatres on August 1 and kicked off its theatrical journey with a promising start. Box Office Performance: A Mixed Start
According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, Son of Sardaar 2 opened with a decent Rs 7.25 crore on its first day, Friday, August 1. The film saw encouraging growth over the weekend, collecting Rs 8.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 9.25 crore on Sunday. By the end of its opening weekend, the film had earned a respectable total of Rs 24.75 crore.
However, like many films, Son of Sardaar 2 experienced a significant dip in collections on Monday. On day 4, the film added only Rs 2.50 crore to its tally, bringing the total box office collection to Rs 27.25 crore. While the drop was expected, given that Mondays typically see lower footfalls, the coming weekdays will be crucial for maintaining momentum.
Occupancy Trends on Monday
On August 4, the film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 11.81 per cent. Morning shows began slowly with just 6.21 per cent occupancy, but audience turnout gradually increased throughout the day. Afternoon shows registered 11.16 per cent, evening shows 13.23 per cent, and night shows peaked at 16.64 per cent—indicating a steady but modest engagement.
Plot and Ensemble Cast
Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, Son of Sardaar 2 is a spiritual sequel to the 2012 hit Son of Sardaar. The film follows the adventures of Jassi, who travels to Scotland to win back his estranged wife. But his journey unexpectedly spirals into a hostage situation, a mafia feud, and a wildly chaotic Sikh wedding.
Ajay Devgn leads a star-studded ensemble cast featuring Sanjay Mishra, Dolly Ahluwalia, Ravi Kishan, Neeru Bajwa, Mrunal Thakur, Chunky Pandey, and others. Debutant Roshni Walia also makes her mark in a pivotal role.
