Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are all ready to reunite after 17 years for an edge-of-the-seat thriller by the name Haiwaan. As per reports, HT City officially confirmed the title of the film. Haiwaan means “beast” in English. The title has been selected to depict the taut, gripping theme of the film. A source associated with the production revealed, “The team felt the title gets the tone of the film right and fits the way Priyadarshan visualizes the characters and story.”

A Thrilling Remake with a Twist

According to Bollywood Hungama, Haiwaan is the official Hindi remake of Oppam, the 2016 Malayalam thriller originally starring Mohanlal. Interestingly, it has been reported that Akshay Kumar will essay the role of the antagonist in this version, a new addition to the already diverse body of work of his. Saif Ali Khan would essay the role of the protagonist, with the two big guns of Bollywood ready for a nail-biting face-off.

Production Timeline and Cast History

The movie will start production in August 2025 and is lined up for release in theaters in 2026. This is the first time the two have collaborated on a full-fledged project after their 2008 release Tashan. They also featured together in Dil Chahta Hai (2001) and Kambakkht Ishq (2009), where they shared ample chemistry on screen, although they had not shared much screen space together.

Akshay Kumar has just completed shooting for Bhooth Bangla, also directed by Priyadarshan, and Saif Ali Khan is last seen in Jewel Thief. With Haiwaan, audiences can expect a thrilling high-stakes film full of action, suspense, and two leading men back in the game.
