Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are reuniting on-screen after 17 long years for filmmaker Priyadarshan’s upcoming project titled Haiwaan. The much-anticipated collaboration was confirmed by Priyadarshan himself through an Instagram post on Tuesday, where he shared a candid photo of the duo enjoying the India vs England Test match at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
In the photo, Saif, dressed in a casual blue shirt, appears focused on the game, while Akshay, looking sharp in a beige blazer and white shirt, chats beside him. Captioning the picture, Priyadarshan wrote, “Haiwaan my next film with @akshaykumar and Saif Ali Khan at Lords.” The post instantly created buzz among fans, many expressing excitement over the star-studded reunion. While some fans cheered the return of the Akshay-Priyadarshan pairing, others demanded updates on Hera Pheri 3.

A Thrilling Remake of Mohanlal’s ‘Oppam’
According to Bollywood Hungama, Haiwaan is a Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam, originally starring Mohanlal. Reports suggest that Akshay Kumar will be stepping into the antagonist’s role in this version, marking a rare and exciting casting twist. Saif will play the central protagonist. Sources describe the film as a “nail-biting and entertaining thriller” that promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. The film is set to begin shooting in August 2025, with a theatrical release slated for 2026.
This marks Akshay and Saif’s first collaboration since Tashan in 2008. Meanwhile, Saif was recently seen in Netflix’s action thriller Jewel Thief, while Akshay has multiple projects lined up including Bhooth Bangla and Hera Pheri 3, the latter of which recently saw Paresh Rawal confirming his return after speculation of his exit.
