Veteran actor Anil Kapoor recently honored the memory of his late mother, Nirmal Kapoor, by immersing her ashes in the Ganga. This emotional ritual took place at the same sacred spot where his father, Surinder Kapoor, was laid to rest almost a decade ago. In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Anil shared an image of the ceremony, showing him seated in prayer with folded hands, dressed in white and wearing a black shawl. Several other men, also dressed in white, were present as part of the ritual, while Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati, dressed in saffron, participated in the solemn occasion.
Anil captioned the photo with a deep reflection on grief and healing: “With the grief came a quiet sense of peace, Like Ma and Dad are finally back together… With each other, home at last.” His words poignantly captured the sense of closure he felt, seeing his parents reunited in the afterlife.

A Spiritual Journey at Parmarth Niketan
Before this, on June 24, Anil Kapoor and his brother, filmmaker Boney Kapoor, visited Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh. There, they met Swami Chidanand Saraswati and shared their final moments with their mother. The spiritual journey was an opportunity for the Kapoor family to pay their respects and reflect on Nirmal Kapoor’s life and legacy.
Remembering Nirmal Kapoor
Nirmal Kapoor, who passed away at the age of 90 on May 2 this year due to age-related issues, was remembered by her son through a touching social media tribute. Anil recalled how his mother was a “silent pillar” of strength, always nurturing and supporting her family. Despite never being in the spotlight, Nirmal was the glue that held their family together, he wrote. Her love and care extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of friends, extended relatives, and even strangers. Anil’s tribute highlighted her lasting impact, stating, “Her love reached far and wide, and it’s clear from the outpouring of messages and affection that she made a lasting impact on so many hearts.”
