A routine Delhi–Mumbai flight took a dramatic turn for actor Anupam Kher and cricketer Ajinkya Rahane, who were travelling together when their aircraft suddenly aborted landing and lifted off again. The unexpected manoeuvre left passengers startled, and Kher later recounted the moment on X, sharing a video featuring Rahane and reflecting on the brief but tense scare.
Kher, known for documenting his travels online, posted the video with a heartfelt note for Rahane. “Dearest @ajinkyarahane88! It was so wonderful to travel with you from Delhi to Mumbai! I have always admired you as a player, but loved your humility and grace as a person too,” he wrote. The actor jokingly admitted that the sudden lift-off shook him enough to abandon his usual calm. “My language was fine and decent till our plane touched down and then suddenly took off again! That scary moment didn’t allow me to be a gentleman, and some nice Shudh Hindi words came out of my mouth,” he quipped. Kher added that the experience ensured the two would remember their meeting for more than one reason.
In the video, Kher is seen praising Rahane, saying, “It was wonderful travelling with you, my friend,” to which the cricketer warmly responds, “Lovely meeting you, sir.” The actor then recounts the unsettling moment, calling Rahane “brave” as he humorously reflects on his own reaction to the aborted landing. He also expressed admiration for Rahane’s character, calling him “a great player and a wonderful human being,” and extended blessings to him and his family.
Rahane, meanwhile, was in Mumbai to attend the 78th Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament, where he was part of a felicitation ceremony. Sharing photos from the event on X, he wrote, “Honoured to be part of the felicitation ceremony… alongside @CPMumbaiPolice Deven Bharti ji and @MumbaiCricAssoc President Ajinkya Naik.”
