Anurag Kashyap Speaks Out: Why Bollywood Only Cheers Success and Ignores Honest Praise

Anurag Kashyap says Bollywood praises only success, not passion. His honest take on the industry is now sparking conversation among fans.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is known for openly supporting and praising the work of other actors and filmmakers. Over the years, he has used his social media to talk about films he genuinely likes, whether they are big hits or smaller projects. From movies like Animal and Dhurandhar to Subedaar, he has always shared his honest opinions.

Recently, in an interview while promoting his new film Dacoit, Anurag spoke about why this kind of appreciation is not often returned. The film also stars Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur. During the conversation, he was asked whether people in the film industry hesitate to praise each other.

Anurag replied in a simple and honest way. He said that many people tell him he praises others a lot, but they do not do the same for his films. He explained that he loves cinema, so whenever he enjoys something, he talks about it openly. At the same time, he admitted that he cannot force others to behave the same way.

Mrunal Thakur agreed with him and added that very few people in the industry truly appreciate others without any reason. Anurag then explained that in today’s film industry, most people only speak positively about a film after it becomes successful. In simple words, success brings attention, while genuine effort often goes unnoticed.

Last month, Anurag had praised Anil Kapoor’s film Subedaar in a detailed social media post. He said the film deserved to be seen in theatres and appreciated its strong storytelling and setting. He also spoke about how the film showed a powerful and realistic world.

Earlier, he also praised Ranveer Singh for his dedication to acting. He shared an incident from the film Lootera, where Ranveer went to extreme lengths to make a scene feel real. According to Anurag, the actor hurt himself during a scene to bring authenticity to his performance. Even though the film did not perform very well at the box office, Anurag said it showed Ranveer’s strong commitment to his craft.

Anurag Kashyap is now making his Telugu debut with Dacoit, directed by Shaneil Deo. The film has recently been released but has received mixed reviews and a slow start at the box office. Still, Anurag’s honest comments about the industry have once again grabbed attention and started an important conversation.
