Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty has made a formal departure from her acting profession, a shocking news confirmed by her father and veteran actor Sunil Shetty. In an interview with Zoom recently, Sunil Shetty made known that Athiya has made a conscious decision to take a different route and no longer wants to act in films.
From Promising Debut to Early Exit
Athiya premiered in Bollywood with Hero in 2015, which was produced by Salman Khan. Although her debut created much hype, her presence gradually diminished. She appeared in movies such as Mubarakan and Motichoor Chaknachoor, but soon retreated from the spotlight after a short while. Fans speculated about her disappearance for years—whether she was taking a break or working on a new movie discreetly.

A Personal Decision, Not a Career Downer
Bringing all speculation to an end, Sunil Shetty revealed, “One day Athiya came and said, ‘Baba, I don’t want to do films anymore,’ and that was it. I never stopped her. I actually appreciated that she decided to listen to her heart rather than live by the society’s expectations.” He further disclosed that Athiya kept getting film offers, but she refused all of them.
Focus on Family and Motherhood
Athiya is now totally involved in her personal life. She is married to Indian cricketer KL Rahul and has embarked on a new chapter in life based on her family. The couple just had their first child—a baby girl—and Athiya is reportedly utterly devoted to motherhood.
