BOL BACHCHAN: Good at single screens, decent at multiplexes

This week’s much awaited release, Rohit Shetty’s Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan and Asin starrer, BOL BACHCHAN, has embarked on a good to decent start. While the single screens are doing great with a 70-75 percent start, the multiplexes are quite decent at around 55-60 percent.

The best business of BOL BACHCHAN is coming (expectedly) from the smaller centres of Maharashtra, Gujarat, parts of Central India (especially Rajasthan) and Uttar Pradesh. The film is somewhat below expectations in Mumbai (saw a pick up here during the latter shows) & Delhi city, Hyderabad-Nizam, West Bengal and East Punjab.

CHECK OUT: BOL BACHCHAN has four hardcore action sequences

What must be kept in mind is that BOL BACHCHAN had to contend with two regional films, the week old but still strong JATT AND JULIET in East Punjab and Delhi city, and EEGA in the South. Still given the mixed word-of-mouth, thankfully tilting towards positive, the collections have already started picking up, and though BOL BACHCHCAN may not be able to emulate the huge success of the team’s SINGHAM and GOLMAAL 3, but will still end up as another triumph for the Rohit-Devgn combo.

Meanwhile last week’s Kabeer Kaushik directed MAXIMUM has failed at the box- office, while the two week old, GANGS OF WASSEYPUR has had quite a stable second week and will end up as Anurag Kashyap’s biggest commercial success.
