The Karan Malhotra directed Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer, BROTHERS, has managed a bumper opening weekend, despite mixed reviews.
As per the stats, BROTHERS opened with 14 crore on Friday, picked up huge on Independence day with 22 crore but saw a fall on Sunday with 16 crore.
The weekend figure of 52 crore can be termed as bumper, given the way new releases have been falling at the turnstile, post Salman’s BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN. Having said that, the battle for BROTHERS will continue, and the film will have to show a stable run during the weekdays, to be termed a success.
BROTHERS also saw an impressive start in the overseas grossing $612,000 in the Gulf (2 days), £45,000 from UK (1 day) and a record breaking opening day of $125,000 from Pakistan.
We must add that the overseas figures are approximate and will be updated in our regular box-office report, once we receive the exact and validated opening weekend numbers.
