Aanand L. Rai and Dhanush announced their third collaboration, Tere Ishk Mein, following the success of Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re.

In June 2023, Aanand L. Rai and Dhanush announced their third collaboration, Tere Ishk Mein, following the success of Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re. However, nearly a year has passed since the announcement with little to no development on the project, sparking numerous rumors about its status. According to Peepingmoon, the film is still on but has faced production delays.

Sources indicate that Dhanush’s commitments to his Tamil films have caused the postponement of Tere Ishk Mein. “Dhanush has several prior commitments down south that he wants to complete before dedicating two months to Aanand L. Rai’s film. The director acknowledged his concern and has agreed to wait for him. They’re now aiming to start the film around October–November 2024,” a source revealed. The film will be shot in a two-month, continuous schedule in Varanasi and other locations in Uttar Pradesh, with a theatrical release targeted for mid-2025.

Described as a tragic love story, Tere Ishk Mein reportedly belongs to a similar realm as Raanjhanaa and promises to evoke deep emotions with its romance and varied sentiments. Dhanush will portray an angry young man named Shekhar, while the female lead is expected to be finalized by July. The script is penned by Himanshu Sharma and Neeraj Yadav, with A.R. Rahman composing the music.

Meanwhile, Dhanush is eagerly anticipating the release of his 50th film, Raayan, which also marks his second directorial venture after 2017’s Pa Pandi. The gangster drama, also starring Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Nithya Menon, and SJ Suryah, was initially slated for a June 13 release but has been postponed to July 26. Following this, Dhanush will appear in Sekhar Kammula’s Kubera, a social drama set in Mumbai’s Dharavi slums, featuring Nagarjuna Akkineni and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles. On the work front, Dhanush is also set to shoot for director Mari Selvaraj’s next film, followed by a biopic of music maestro Ilaiyaraaja. His third directorial project is also in the pipeline.
