Vivek Sinha, who played the role of hijacker Zahoor Mistry in Dhurandhar, has opened up about the mixed reactions he has received for his short but intense performance. In a conversation with PTI, Vivek revealed that a female viewer messaged him on Instagram, saying he should feel ashamed for accepting the role in the spy thriller. In the film, Zahoor delivers a chilling line, calling Hindus a cowardly community and threatening to cause chaos. The scene, although brief, left a strong impact on audiences.
Vivek shared how he responded to the viewer. He explained that he sent her a voice note to clarify his perspective. He said that movies are mirrors of society and actors portray characters, not personal beliefs. “If we want to show a dangerous terrorist from Pakistan threatening people at gunpoint, we have to portray his thinking, however cruel it is. Should we call real terrorists to act in the film? Should we call real murderers to act if someone is killing in a scene? The film is showing what the character thinks, not what the actor believes,” Vivek said. He added that after sending the voice note, the viewer has not replied yet.

Since its release in December last year, Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, has made history as the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time. The film follows an Indian spy infiltrating Karachi’s criminal and political underworld in Pakistan. It draws inspiration from real-life events such as the 1999 IC-814 hijacking, the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai attacks, and Operation Lyari.
The sequel, Dhurandhar 2, continues the story of Ranveer Singh’s character Jaskirat Singh Rangi, showing his transformation into the spy Hamza Ali Mazari. The film charts his rise in the Karachi underworld and his mission to dismantle a terror network threatening India. It also features an intense face-off between Ranveer and Arjun Rampal, adding to the film’s high-stakes drama.
The movie boasts a star-studded cast including Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi, Sara Arjun, and Danish Pandor. Vivek Sinha’s performance as Zahoor Mistry, although brief, is being widely discussed, highlighting how actors tackle challenging and morally complex roles in high-profile films. Dhurandhar 2 continues to dominate the box office, with audiences appreciating its gripping story and powerful performances.
