Director Dibakar Banerjee, actor Abhay Deol and music composer Shekhar Ravjiani retorted to the objections that rose on the lyrics of the song ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ from their political thriller film SHANGHAI.
Said Abhay Deol, “I had expected something to happen with these lyrics since, it’s become a fashion these days to protest. And I really don’t understand their motive behind those protests. In fact, sometimes I feel that they do this to get into limelight, for publicity. An am not really sure if they are doing this for our country.”

Dibakar, who has written the song, said, “When I wrote this song, I had actually that feeling in my mind for my country i.e. my love for it. When you see some kharabi in your house, you do raise your voice to make it go right. So, that’s the reason why I wrote the song… for the love for my country and the anger for the bad things happening around.”
