Ek Din Trailer: Junaid Khan’s Unrequited Love for Sai Pallavi Will Melt Your Heart

The trailer of Ek Din shows Junaid Khan in a one-sided love story with Sai Pallavi. The film marks her Bollywood debut and features a surprising twist.

The trailer for the upcoming romantic drama Ek Din, starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, has been released, offering a first look at a story centred on one-sided love and a mysterious wish. The film has generated attention primarily because it marks Sai Pallavi’s first Hindi film appearance and represents the third project for Junaid Khan.

Produced by Aamir Khan’s banner and directed by Sunil Pandey, the film explores the emotional complexity of feelings that are not shared equally. The narrative appears to blend romance with a light element of fantasy through a plot device introduced early in the trailer.

The trailer opens with a symbolic element: a wishing bell believed to grant any wish made while standing underneath it. Junaid Khan’s character, Rohan, casually mentions the belief while talking to a friend. In the same moment, he expresses a heartfelt desire — that his colleague Meera, played by Sai Pallavi, could be his, even if only for a day.

Because he unknowingly makes this wish while standing under the bell, the story suggests that it begins to come true. This premise becomes the central narrative device that drives the events shown in the trailer.

Rohan works with Meera and has been quietly in love with her. However, he lacks the confidence to confess his feelings. The trailer portrays him as someone who reads deeper meaning into their interactions, hoping that their connection could eventually turn into a romantic relationship.

As the preview progresses, the two characters are shown sharing several seemingly warm and friendly moments together. These scenes suggest that Rohan begins to believe that Meera might reciprocate his feelings.

However, the tone of the trailer gradually shifts. What initially appears to be a gentle romantic story begins to reveal signs of misunderstanding and emotional tension.

In the final moments of the trailer, Meera unexpectedly slaps Rohan, hinting that his perception of their relationship may not match reality. This abrupt shift introduces a sense of conflict and raises questions about whether the wish has altered events or whether Rohan has misinterpreted the situation entirely.

A significant portion of Ek Din was filmed in Japan, giving the film a distinctive visual setting compared with many typical Hindi romantic dramas. The Japanese locations are visible throughout the trailer and appear to play an important role in shaping the film’s atmosphere and story progression.

The film is reportedly inspired by the Thai romantic drama One Day, which was also largely shot in Japan. While the Hindi version appears to adapt the central concept, it may reinterpret certain narrative elements for a new audience.

Another reason the film has drawn attention is Sai Pallavi’s entry into Hindi cinema. The actor is widely known for her performances in South Indian films across Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam industries.

Her Bollywood debut comes at a time when she is also preparing for another high-profile project. She is set to appear in filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic adaptation Ramayana, which features Ranbir Kapoor and Yash in key roles and is expected to release later this year.

For Junaid Khan, Ek Din could be a significant step in his developing career. The actor first appeared in the streaming release Maharaj before making his theatrical debut with Loveyapa. Neither project created a major impact at the box office or among audiences.

Because of this, Ek Din may serve as an important opportunity for him to strengthen his presence as a lead actor in the industry.

In earlier interviews, Aamir Khan revealed that his son had once auditioned for a major role in Laal Singh Chaddha. Despite the audition, Aamir chose not to cast him in the film, stating that he wanted the decision to be based purely on suitability for the role.

The film is directed by Sunil Pandey, marking his first project as a director. Pandey previously worked behind the scenes on films such as Laal Singh Chaddha and Delhi Belly.

Ek Din is scheduled to release in theatres on May 1, with the trailer suggesting a story that mixes romance, misunderstanding, and the emotional consequences of unspoken feelings.
