His voiceover, “Maine maut ko bohot kareeb se dekha hai. Kisi aur ke zindagi ke liye marna hi meri zindagi hai,” and the sad notes of Toh Phir Aao paved the way for speculations. The teaser concluded with a bloodied hand holding a gun, and fans swarmed the comments with speculations, asking, “Awarapan 2? and “The lord of Bollywood Emraan Hashmi is back.”
Producer Mukesh Bhatt Shares His Views on the Rumors
Though Hashmi’s post has created buzz, producer Mukesh Bhatt has been guarded in his response. In an interview with News18 Showsha, Bhatt conceded the growing buzz for re-releases of Awarapan and Jannat but did not confirm anything. “Yes, people have come to me regarding this. But I think we should give what the audience wants. I will talk to my team before arriving at a conclusion,” he said, adding further fuel to the speculation.
Awarapan’s Cult Status Though Awarapan did not perform well at the box office upon its release in 2007, it has since gained a cult following. Directed by Mohit Suri, the film’s gripping storyline, stellar performances, and haunting soundtrack, featuring tracks like Toh Phir Aao, have earned it a special place in Emraan Hashmi’s career. Hashmi himself has gone back to think about the sudden fame of the movie, which is his favorite movie.
