Exclusive: Tiger Vs. Pathaan Shelved? Aditya Chopra’s Big Decision on Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan’s Film Revealed

The destiny of Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe is seemingly headed for a strategic break, as Aditya Chopra re-evaluates the creative trajectory of the franchise blockbuster. The producer has slammed the brakes on gearing up new movies in the universe to prevent creative stagnation and formulaic repetition, reports PeepingMoon.com.

One of the sources close to the studio disclosed, “Aditya feels that the Spy Universe movies are going towards repetition and want a new approach towards storytelling and presentation. So he is now reconsidering its roadmap and making serious alterations to upcoming plans, including shelving ‘Tiger vs. Pathaan’.”

The highly anticipated Tiger vs. Pathaan which was to be a clash of the cinematic titans between Salman Khan’s Tiger and Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan — is now indefinitely shelved.

Only ‘War 2’ and ‘Alpha’ In Progress

Currently, only Spy Universe films officially in production are ‘War 2’, which will release on August 14, 2025, and ‘Alpha’, a spy thriller with a female lead featuring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, which will hit theaters on December 25, 2025. ‘Pathaan 2’, however, is still in early development stages but can expect delays as Aditya Chopra reshuffles the franchise.

YRF is also looking into a new breed of spies, with talks already on with Vicky Kaushal for a solo film. But all that will be based on Alpha’s box office performance.

Tiger 4 and Dhoom 4 on Different Tracks

The Tiger series also hangs in the balance post-Tiger 3’s underwhelming performance. No plans are in the works for Tiger 4, but YRF has promised to go back to the character again soon with a new script.
