The Akhtar home saw a day of family, love, and birthdays on Wednesday night. Film-maker Zoya Akhtar posted an adorable picture Thursday morning from the special birthday celebration involving her brother and actor-director Farhan Akhtar and their cousin, Farah Khan, who share birthdays. Farah was turning 60 on Thursday while Farhan’s birthday celebration also marked an occasion of sheer joy.
In the click, Farhan is sitting right in the centre, with smiling eyes closed, having a black shirt on. Above him on the left side there is Farah, beaming with happiness; she is holding a navy blue kurti, and he is also eyes closed. Her sister-in-law, Anusha Dandekar, is left to Farhan’s right smiling and twining with him through a black costume. There are three birthday cakes surrounded by the trio, all burnt with candles to depict the mutual birthday celebrations. Zoya captioned the post, “Bring It In ❤️,” accompanied by playful hashtags like ‘Birthday babies,’ ‘All number 9,’ and ‘Capricornia’ as they share an astrological connection. She also joked with the hashtag ‘Hum cake khane ke liye kahin bhi ja sakte hain,’ quoting the iconic line from Farhan’s cult classic Dil Chahta Hai, a film where Zoya served as an assistant director and Farah worked as the choreographer.

Farhan commented on the post with a heartfelt message: “Awwwww best birthday bringing in. thank you zoeeyyyy ❤️ lov my family.” The post also saw reactions from Huma Qureshi, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Shweta Bachchan, who shared red heart emojis in the comments.
Farah Khan also shared the moment with her fans, posting the photograph on her Instagram Stories, making a special birthday wish: “To all the capri 9’s… happy birthday.” She thanked Zoya, Shibani Dandekar, and her aunt Honey Irani for making her birthday so beautiful. Farah also shared a Reel, in which she had recorded Farhan opening a birthday gift from her – a DVD of Manoj Kumar’s 1981 film Kranti, which Farhan had claimed to be his favorite movie. The video shows Farhan laughing and singing the title track of Kranti, adding to the fun of the family celebration. Farah captioned the Reel, “What do gift ur little brother who has everything?? Piece of our childhood, of course! Happy birthday @faroutakhtar #capri9 keep the kranti going #favouritefilm.
Professional front: Farah last choreographed the title song of Ishq Vishk Rebound in 2023. Farhan will be seen next in 120 Bahadur and returns to directing with Don 3. Meanwhile, Zoya co-produced the docuseries Angry Young Men.
It was love, cake, and memories on the night the Akhtar family would remember, for the birthday messages to Farhan and Farah reflected how closely knit the relationship is.
