Two theatrical trailers that were shown at many cinemas with last Friday’s KHILADI 786, were Abbas-Mustan’s RACE 2 and Vishal Bhardwaj’s MATRU KI BIJLEE KA MANDOLA (after being unveiled with TALAASH).

Both the films, RACE 2 and MATRU KI BIJLEE KA MANDOLA, are the two major star cast films that will release in the first month of the year, January, which is generally not very conducive to good box-office returns.

So, while the very good response to the trailer of RACE 2 was predictable, what came as a pleasant surprise was the superb response to the trailer of MATRU KI BIJLI KA MANDOLA. Almost all the dialogues of the film met with a thunderous response from the audience, be it Anushka’s cheeky question to Imran or Pankaj Kapur’s hilarious propositioning sequence.
Although this may be the first time that Vishal Bhardwaj is attempting an all-out zany comedy, but it appears that the maverick director is in top form, and seeing the excellent response to the promos, one can safely say that MATRU KI BIJLEE KA MANDOLA is all set for a good opening when the film releases all over on 11th January.
