Though megastar Rajinikanth’s KOCHADAIIYAAN (animation) moved ahead, but despite that none of the new releases – Vinod Khanna starrer KOYELAANCHAL, Fox Star Studios’ HAWAA HAWAAI, MASTRAM, YEH HAI BAKRAPUR and MANJUNATH – could take advantage of the situation.

If one has to choose the leader(s) it was Amole Gupte’s HAWAA HAWAAI at (select) multiplexes and MASTRAM (the film based on the life of first famous Hindi porn writer) at the single screens. However, the collections were dull and not up to the mark.

The start of the remaining three releases, KOYELAANCHAL, YEH HAI BAKRAPUR and MANJUNATH, was even lower.
Meanwhile from the older releases, it was yet again the Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer, 2 STATES, which remained the first choice. The film added another 11 crore, thus netting 96 crore (to be validated) in three weeks from India, and is sure to hit a century, later this week! Additionally the film has already grossed $5m in the overseas, with $2m out of that coming from the US.
