Veteran actor Dharmendra has been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital since November 1 after experiencing breathlessness. The 88-year-old actor, who remains one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved icons, is reportedly stable and showing signs of recovery. On Tuesday morning, his wife Hema Malini and daughter Esha Deol were seen arriving at the hospital, hours after publicly dismissing false reports about his death.
Earlier in the day, Hema Malini took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to denounce the irresponsible rumours circulating online about her husband’s health. She expressed strong disapproval toward media outlets that had spread misinformation, calling it “disrespectful and unforgivable.” In her post, she wrote, “What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is being extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy.”

Esha Deol also issued a statement on Instagram, urging the media and public to refrain from speculating about her father’s health. She confirmed that Dharmendra is “stable and recovering,” adding, “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for papa’s speedy recovery.”
In recent days, Dharmendra’s health has been the subject of intense online speculation. Several unverified reports claimed that the actor had been shifted to the ICU and placed on life support. However, these rumours were swiftly refuted by his family and team. A statement from Sunny Deol’s representatives clarified, “Mr Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Further comments and updates will be shared as available. Request everyone to pray for his speedy recovery and respect the family’s right to privacy.”
