His father, director Rakesh Roshan, shared some touching recollections of Hrithik’s speech problems recently, an expose of how it undermined his self-confidence.
Struggles with Speech and Confidence
Rakesh Roshan remembered instances where his son, though extremely bright and well-educated, found it difficult to articulate himself due to his stutter. Hrithik, in an effort to speak openly, would frequently find himself restricted by his speech impairment. Rakesh especially remembers an instance in Dubai where Hrithik isolated himself in a bathroom, upset that he could not properly utter, “Thank you, Dubai,” because he was stuck on the word “D.”

A Single Route to Conquering the Battle
In spite of these challenges, Hrithik’s resolve to overcome his speech problem was unshakable. Rakesh explained how Hrithik would wake up each morning and read newspapers in different languages—English, Hindi, and Urdu. This tough practice went on for years, and today, Hrithik has not stuttered in more than a decade.
Rakesh Roshan’s Goodbye to Directing Krrish 4
On the professional side, Rakesh Roshan is relinquishing directing Krrish 4. In a recent interview, he mentioned handing over the baton to the next generation. He said that he wanted to make sure the process was done right while he was still in his senses, instead of leaving it hanging in case something happened to him. This is a new chapter in the Krrish franchise as Rakesh passes the responsibility on to others.
