Even though Irrfan Khan and Tigmanshu Dhulia have given two superb films in the form of PAAN SINGH TOMAR and HAASIL, every subsequent project of theirs isn’t kick-starting without its share of struggle. While they have been associated in a couple of shelved films already, fate of another film of theirs – JAI RAMJI– continues to be in limbo.

“It was around a year back that JAI RAMJI was announced with Arjun Rampal, Irrfan Khan and Preity Zinta. However ever since then there has been uncertainty around JAI RAMJI turning into reality,” informs a source.

This is for the third time that an Irrfan-Tigmanshu film is seeing roadblocks coming its way. Earlier they had begun shooting for THE STORY OF A PORN FILMMAKER which couldn’t be completed. Later they were also collaborating in GHULAMI with Sunny Deol in lead but that film too had to be shelved after a few days of shooting. While Tigmanshu went ahead and directed Nana Patekar in SHAGIRD and then Jimmy Sheirgill and Randeep Hooda in SAHEB, BIWI AUR GANGSTER, he waited for two long years before PAAN SINGH TOMAR could be released.
“Irrfan is always Tigmanshu’s first choice for any film and the actor too holds him in good regards. However due to adverse circumstances their projects usually take a lot of time before materialising. Thankfully this doesn’t seem to be the case with SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER 2 where Irrfan has been roped in for a pivotal role. However this progress means that JAI RAMJI has been put on a backburner again,” the source continues.
When contacted, Tigmanshu confirmed that JAI RAMJI would happen but only after SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER 2. On the other hand Irrfan was a little more forthcoming about the delay in the film’s kick-start. He said, “It’s a very exciting film par yeh film bas hote hote reh jaati hai. Mujhe bhi iska interzar hai. Once Tigmanshu calls, I would be there for the film.”
Well, here is hoping that Tigmanshu is listening.
