Actress Janhvi Kapoor has spoken out strongly against a shocking incident in Thane, Maharashtra, where a man violently assaulted a young receptionist at a private hospital. Using her Instagram Stories on July 23, Janhvi, 28, shared the viral video of the incident and demanded stricter action against the attacker.
“This Man Needs to Be in Jail”: Janhvi Kapoor
Disturbed by the brutality of the act, Janhvi wrote, “This man needs to be in jail. Why does anyone think this behaviour is ok?” She further questioned the attacker’s mindset and upbringing, saying, “What kind of upbringing convinces you to go through with these actions without any remorse, guilt or sense of humanity?”
Calling for harsher consequences, she added, “Shame on us for not punishing and condemning such behaviour more aggressively. Nothing excuses this.”
The Incident: What Happened?
The accused, identified as Gokul Jha, reportedly attacked a 25-year-old receptionist after she denied him access to a doctor’s room for not having an appointment. In a disturbing video, Jha can be seen kicking the woman, pulling her hair, and dragging her across the hospital reception area, even as others tried to intervene.
Following the attack, police registered an FIR against Jha under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for assault, using vulgar language, and outraging a woman’s modesty. He has been taken into two-day police custody. His brother Ranjit and other family members who were present at the scene have also been detained. The injured receptionist is currently receiving treatment in a Dombivli hospital.

New Footage Raises Questions
Later, additional footage surfaced suggesting the receptionist may have hit Jha’s sister-in-law just before the assault. However, authorities have yet to verify the context or confirm the authenticity of this claim.
