John Abraham has revealed the first poster from his upcoming action-thriller Tehran, sparking excitement among fans. In the striking visual, the actor appears with a bleeding forehead, a rugged long beard, and an intense gaze, hinting at the film’s gritty tone. The trailer for Tehran is set to release on August 1, and the film will premiere exclusively on ZEE5 via OTTplay Premium during Independence Week.
Originally slated for a 2023 release, Tehran has been in the making for a while. On July 31, the film’s team finally confirmed the release with a gripping message: “A blast in Delhi didn’t just hit an embassy — it awakened a dormant fire.” The film’s OTT release triggered mixed reactions from fans. While many applauded the new look and expressed excitement, others were disappointed that it won’t release in cinemas, especially considering John’s previous stance against direct-to-digital launches.
Inspired by Global Conflicts
In a recent interview with BollywoodLife, John described Tehran as a gripping, high-stakes geopolitical thriller aimed at viewers invested in real-world issues like the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the broader roles of nations like China, Iran, and Palestine. “It’s a stunning film,” he said, expressing hope that audiences will connect with its global narrative and action-driven plot.
Directed by Arun Gopalan and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Sandeep Leyzell, and Shobhna Yadav, Tehran also stars Manushi Chhillar. The screenplay is penned by Ritesh Shah and Ashish Prakash Verma, and the story is inspired by true events.
What’s Next for John Abraham
Besides Tehran, John is busy with several major projects including Rohit Shetty’s biopic on ex-Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, superhero film Munkeeman, Garam Masala 2, and a possible Pathaan spin-off centered on his character, Jim.
