This week’s new release, Shirish Kunder’s Akshay-Sonakshi starrer, JOKER has embarked on an ordinary to dull start. And it comes as no surprise because of the reasons already mentioned in our last box-office report.

The start varies from 15-25 percent on an average and can even be called poor given the banner and big star cast. The fate of the film depends on the patronization by the family and kids. The bright spot is that the word-of-mouth is not as bad as the opening and a section of the audience are even appreciating the novel theme.

Meanwhile last Friday’s Boman-Farah starrer, SHIRIN FARHAD KI TOH NIKAL PADI maintained decently on the mid-end during the weekdays, netting 9-10 crore during the opening week. Unfortunately that will not be enough!
With JOKER not taking even an average start and SFKTNP underperforming, the benefit will surely accrue to Yash Raj Films’ Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer, the All Time Blockbuster EK THA TIGER. The Kabir Khan directed ETT has zipped past the 180 crore mark and has bright chances of netting over 200 crore from India, not to forget the film’s stupendous overseas run.
