Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has introduced a revolutionary twist to the upcoming comedy-thriller Housefull 5. At the trailer release event, Nadiadwala announced an unprecedented step in Indian cinema: the movie will have several climaxes, with various versions playing in various theatres.
“For the first time in the history of Indian films, the ending of the film will differ according to the screen where you watch it,” declared Nadiadwala. “The murderer in Screen 2 of PVR won’t be the same murderer in Screen 3. Each crowd will leave with a different conclusion.”
This fresh take gives an element of suspense to the fifth installment of the hit Housefull series, which has been infamous for its outrageous comedy and star-studded casts. Housefull 5 introduces a change by combining elements of a murder mystery with its signature comedy and sets the action on a high-end cruise ship where a billionaire gets murdered on his birthday bash.
By providing several endings, the producers are not only increasing the entertainment factor but also inviting repeat watching, as fans might descend upon other screens to seek out other climaxes. This risky storytelling experiment might be the wave of the future for filmmakers seeking to increase audience interaction in a world dominated by streaming and spoilers.
