Shah Rukh Khan’s much-anticipated film King is shaping up to become one of the most awaited cinematic events of 2026. After the explosive title reveal and first-look poster on SRK’s 60th birthday, things have reached a fever pitch among his fans. The film marks the superstar’s grand return to high-octane action while being deeply personal, with the addition of his daughter Suhana Khan as she takes up her first major theatrical role.
India Today reports that King is spread across two timelines, with a different antagonist for each. Shah Rukh Khan is said to play the same character at two junctures of his life — younger and older — so that the film could take the audience through the journey of the character. In this earlier timeline, he clashes with Raghav Juyal, who becomes one of the pivotal antagonists. The story will shift to the second timeline: the older phase in his life, and this is where Abhishek Bachchan enters as another pivotal antagonist. With this, the film promises to have a much richer and layered storytelling approach, where high-intensity action will be coupled with some deeper emotional undercurrents.
Helmed by Siddharth Anand, the filmmaker behind monumental blockbusters like Pathaan and War, King is being made as an artistically visual and high-voltage action thriller. Backed by Red Chillies Entertainment, the film is expected to balance breathtaking action set pieces with a deeply emotional narrative, staying true to the elements that have defined Shah Rukh Khan’s most successful films.
Adding to the heft of this project is the fact that it boasts an ensemble cast featuring Rani Mukerji, Deepika Padukone, Arshad Warsi, and Suhana Khan in pivotal roles. Suhana’s role is “stylish and layered,” the next significant leap forward in her acting journey following her digital debut in The Archies. Her on-screen chemistry with her father continues to be one of the most talked-about aspects for the film, bringing a rare emotional resonance to the story.

Sleekly directed by Anand, commanding in its leading man SRK, and spanning generations in its narrative, King promises to be far more than just an action spectacle. It professes to celebrate legacy, reinvention, and family-themes that echo both within the story and in Shah Rukh Khan’s real life. With anticipation continuing to simmer, King is set to dominate not just the box office but also re-establish the eternal Badshah of Bollywood, SRK.
