Kunal Kemmu is bringing a different kind of spy story to cinemas with his upcoming film ‘Vibe’. The teaser has been released by Amazon MGM Studios India and introduces a mix of comedy, action and jokes about the spy genre. The film stars Kunal Kemmu, Preity G Zinta, Sparsh Shrivastava and Vanshika Dhir in important roles.
The story follows two friends, Hardik and Bugs, who find themselves in a situation they never expected. The two characters have no proper training and do not appear to have any real interest in becoming involved in a dangerous national mission. Their ordinary lives take an unexpected turn when they are brought into a national defense operation.
Preity G Zinta plays a commanding character who brings Hardik and Bugs into the mission. Instead of being trained agents who are ready for action, the two friends are completely unprepared for what lies ahead. This sets up much of the comedy in the teaser, as they have to deal with situations that are far outside their experience.
The teaser also appears to make fun of some familiar elements of spy films. Along with the action and mission based storyline, the film uses meta jokes and comedy to play with the expectations usually associated with the genre. This gives ‘Vibe’ a lighter approach compared with traditional spy thrillers.
Kunal Kemmu has directed and produced the film under his production banner Drongo Films. The project also marks an important return for Preity G Zinta, who is coming back to the big screen in a major role. Her appearance has added further interest to the film, particularly among audiences familiar with her earlier work.
‘Vibe’ is scheduled to release in Indian cinemas on September 18. The teaser has already started drawing attention because of its unusual combination of spy elements and comedy. The film appears to focus on what happens when two completely unprepared people are suddenly expected to take part in a high stakes national mission.
With Kunal Kemmu leading the project both in front of and behind the camera, ‘Vibe’ is set to offer a humorous take on the spy genre while bringing Preity G Zinta back to the big screen.
