It is Malaika Arora’s ‘desi avatar’ that has time and again managed to entice audience. Whether it is ‘Chaiyaa Chaiyaa’ or ‘Munni Badnaam’, time and again she has been loved most when she is seen in a persona that connects with masses, especially the ones in the interiors who have related to her instantly.

No wonder, even for her specially designed item number in DOLLY KI DOLI, it would be desi Malaika displaying her ada and moves. Though there was hardly a debate around whether she should be gyrating to the Western or an Indian tune, once Sajid-Wajid’s composition for the song – which goes by the title ‘Fashion’ – was put together, it was decided there and then that this one had to connect with the masses all over again.
Confirms Arbaaz Khan, the film’s producer, “Yes, we are presenting Malaika in a manner that she is loved by her fans and followers. The film too belongs to the heartland of India and with Malaika in there, it would only add to an overall appeal.”

While her last few songs (‘Pandey Ji’, ‘Anarkali Disco Chali’, ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’, ‘Hoth Rasiley’) have all been chartbusters, choreographer Remo D’Souza is going an extra mile to make sure that the concept, look and overall presentation of ‘Fashion’ is entirely unique in its own way while also catering well to the huge fan base that Malaika caters to.
“Yes, that’s something that we are taking care of,” agrees Arbaaz, “Malaika picks and chooses her songs very selectively. If we are roping her in for something, it better be special.”
We would like it no other way.
