The highly-anticipated trailer of the romantic suspense thriller Murderbaad released on Monday, July 7, with a thrilling combination of romance, suspense, and psychological drama. Directed by Arnab Chatterjee in his Hindi directorial debut, the film unfolds against the rich cultural background of Jaipur in Rajasthan.
From Romance to Disappearance: A Tour Gone Wrong
The trailer starts with a local driver, Maqsood (played by Sharib Hashmi), presenting an English-speaking guide, Jayesh, to an NRIs tour company. What is initially a fun-filled trip quickly becomes sinister when a guest, Shaili, goes missing from a royal palace without any explanation.
As the suspicion intensifies, the police start interrogating all tourists, tour company owner, and Maqsood himself. Though preliminary clues implicate the driver, the story soon unravels into a labyrinth of sinister motives and concealed identities, obscuring the boundaries of love and deceit. The gruesome tagline, “Where love and death collide,” summarizes the tension underlying.

A Director’s Passion Project, Five Years in the Making
Arnab Chatterjee discussed how the concept for Murderbaad was brought forth to him while he was still in college. “It’s inspired by the thrillers and romances that I used to watch as a kid, but with a realistic, Indian backdrop,” he described. “Deep down, it’s about the lies we tell to shield who we are.”
New Faces and Seasoned Players Mix
The movie features Nakul Roshan Sahdev and Kanikka Kapur in the main cast, with the veterans of the industry, including Sharib Hashmi, Manish Chaudhari, Amole Gupte, Aanjjan Srivastav, and Vibha Chhibber. Directed and written by Chatterjee under his banner ACjee Entertainment, the movie is all set to hit theaters on July 18, competing at the box office against YRF’s Saiyaara, which makes it an exciting weekend for moviegoers.
