It was almost a year back, August 17, 2013 to be exact, when during our one-to-one talk with Nawazuddin Siddiqui (just after his Bangalore photo shoot), we had requested and cajoled the master actor to go for commercial cinema, sometimes, along with his usual intellectually gratifying films. To that the humble powerhouse of talent had said ”I will discuss that with you because the experience that you people have (of commercial cinema) will definitely help me make a few important decisions in my career.”

Well, Nawaz has kept his promise and this Friday’s Sajid Nadiadwala venture, KICK, sees him playing the antagonist with gusto. When we asked him if he got a kick out of it the (as always) grounded actor acknowledged it laughingly saying,” Yes, I am getting a kick seeing all the positive reactions and feedbacks. Actually, Sajid sahib had this character in his mind, and when he offered it to me I found it challenging and interesting. The best thing is that he let me do it my way.”
We also asked him the secret of his asthmatic, spine chilling laugh and the dead honest actor revealed, ”There is no secret to that laugh. It was there in AKS too but nobody noticed it.”
So would there be more commercial films, in the near future, ”Not too many, but once in a while, as predominantly I’ll be doing small budgeted hard-hitting realistic cinema, as you know there is where I find the creative juices flowing,” concludes Nawazuddin ‘man-of-the moment’ Siddiqui.
