Nepotism Is Just A Starting Point, Not A Career!’ Kareena Kapoor On Nepotism Debate-What Do Fans Think?

Kareena Kapoor Calls Out Nepotism: ‘It Can Get A Debut, Not A Life‑Long Career!

Kareena Kapoor Khan has never shied away from conversations around nepotism. Known for her candour, the actress has consistently acknowledged the privilege of being born into one of Bollywood’s most influential film families. However, Kareena maintains that while lineage may open doors, only talent, consistency, and audience approval can sustain an actor in the long run.

In a recent conversation at We The Women hosted by Barkha Dutt, Kareena addressed the nepotism debate once again. She said, “Nepotism can get you a debut, not a life-long career. The audience acceptance decides your fate, not your surname.” Her statement echoes sentiments shared by several star kids who have faced scrutiny over the years.

Supporting this view, Kareena’s cousin Aadar Jain, in an interview with ETimes, also spoke about his journey in the industry. “People discuss nepotism, but I haven’t reaped its rewards,” he said. “Sure, I am Raj Kapoor’s grandson, and cousins with Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor, but that doesn’t mean I get to star in 50 films a year or continuously sign brand deals. Sadly, in that regard, I haven’t been a product of nepotism.”

On the professional front, Kareena was last seen in Singham Again, the fifth instalment of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe. Featuring an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, and Arjun Kapoor, the 2024 blockbuster showcased Kareena as Avni Kamat Singham, a role that added more strength and depth to the franchise’s female representation.

The actress is now gearing up for a special project that is close to home—literally. Kareena will appear in the upcoming Netflix documentary Dining With The Kapoors, a behind-the-scenes look at Bollywood’s legendary Kapoor family as they gather for a traditional family meal. The special, premiering on November 21, is created by Armaan Jain and directed by Smriti Mundhra, known for The Romantics.

The documentary features an extensive lineup of Kapoor family members, including Randhir Kapoor, Rima Jain, Neetu Kapoor, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Aadar Jain, Agastya Nanda, Navya Naveli Nanda, Kunal Kapoor, Zahan Kapoor, and others. Interestingly, the teaser does not fully reveal the format but instead teases warm conversations, playful banter, nostalgic anecdotes, and glimpses of the enduring Kapoor legacy.
