There was a time when Bollywood superstars used to shy away from playing their age or even portraying a bit older character on-screen! But it seems ‘aging’ on-screen is gradually catching the fancy of our B-townies and no sooner it will become a new fad also.
In their respective films, these actors have been/will be seen willingly playing a slightly ripe age character and/or donning the salt-n-pepper look with élan. Take a look:
Aamir Khan in DANGAL: Aamir has always been experimental with his work. While he has played myriad characters on-screen, for the first time we will get to see Aamir in an old man avatar. And the perfectionist is already sporting close-cropped grey hair look everywhere.
Akshay Kumar in BROTHERS and AIRLIFT: Another superstar who loves dabbling into different roles is our Khiladi Kumar! Interestingly, he will be seen playing his age in not one but two of his upcoming movies (as mentioned). Akshay is seen carrying salt-n-pepper look in both the films.
Anil Kapoor in DIL DHADAKNE DO: While he sported grey hair look years back in the film LAMHE, the evergreen actor Anil Kapoor will now be turning stylish old man for the upcoming film DIL DHADAKNE DO.
Varun Dhawan in BADLAPUR: He is the youngest actor of the lot to take up such a challenging role at an early stage. At 27, with only 3 films in Bollywood, Varun played 40 yr-old man in his latest film BADLAPUR. And the maturity with which Varun essayed the character definitely paid off for taking this risk. He didn’t even mind carrying a full-grown (grey) beard.
Shah Rukh Khan in VEER-ZAARA and FAN: Much like his ‘aged’ avatar in the film VEER-ZAARA, it is being said that SRK will be reprising the same look in his upcoming film FAN also.
Arjun Rampal in OM SHANTI OM: Actor Arjun Rampal donned the old man look in the Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika padukone starrer quite elegantly.
Abhishek Bachchan in GURU: Abhishek too convincingly played the old man character in few portions of his career’s best film GURU. He willingly sported the salt and pepper look!
