A behind-the-scenes picture of the movie’s set recently went viral and triggered an online debate after netizens caught a glimpse of a Pakistani flag visible in the background. Some trolled its presence, but others came in support of the film, explaining relevance within the story.
Netizens React to Flag Controversy
The photo caused bittersweet feelings on Twitter. Some questioned why the flag was included, describing it as inappropriate. “Pakistan ka flag kyu lagya? Who allowed for it?” one Twitter user wondered. Another contributed, “Bollywood has lost it completely.”
But fans and others soon chimed in with the reminder that Dhurandhar is allegedly based on real events surrounding Indian intelligence activities in Pakistan. Supporters of the film made the argument that the flag is probably being used to represent a Pakistani backdrop. “It must be to depict a scene of Pakistan. What is wrong?” a user posted. Another stated, “They are setting this as a Pakistani location. Obviously, they won’t film there.”

Ranveer Singh to Essay Undercover Spy
While details of the plot are not known, it is speculated that Ranveer Singh is playing an undercover Indian spy in the film. The film is said to highlight the courage of Indian special agents serving behind enemy lines, and hence the Pakistani setting is key to the plot.

Teaser and Star-Studded Cast Revealed
The creators recently released the first look teaser, which stars Ranveer sporting long hair, a cigarette between his lips, and raw action. The teaser gives a glimpse of the violence and toughness of the film. Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal form the cast, with the latter sporting a gritty avatar complete with a golden tooth and retro shades. Sara Arjun, a Tamil actress, is the heroine.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar will hit the screens on December 5, 2025.
