Pritam’s track Pyaar ki Pungi is original, says Dinesh

An Iranian Band, Barobax Corp sent a legal notice to the AGENT VINOD music director Pritam Chakraborty and distributors of the film for allegedly copying their track 'Soosan Khanoom' over the prelude used in the much popular track 'Pyaar ki Pungi Baja de' from the film.

The song was composed by an Iranian band which was founded in 2003 by three Iranian nationals Kashayar Haghgoo, Kevian Haghgoo and Hamid Farouzmand. The band heard the 'Pyaar Ki Pungi Baja de' song when it was aired on television and they realized that the initial portion of the song sounds exactly like their track, which induced them to take legal action against the AGENT VINOD team.

However, when we probed the co-producer of AGENT VINOD Dinesh Vijan he denied the claim stating that Pritam's track is original. Dinesh Vijan said, ''Are you finding any similarity between the two? It's the first four seconds of the groove that cannot be patented anywhere else. For once, Pritam's melody is completely original.''

He further adds, ''There are two versions of the song. The version in the film has nothing to do with the singing group. So they can't do anything. And the track that we have is completely original. There is a natural melody. There's nothing similar in that. We will reply in the right manner.''

Director Sriram Raghavan said he isn't aware of the song by the Band. ''I have not heard the Band's song. So, I don't know,'' says Raghavan.

Starring Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor AGENT VINOD release on 23rd March 2012.
