While most of us might be only worried about fate of films as far as box office collections are concerned, there is a niche tribe within our industry who have chosen to get worried about something different.

While Bollywood films have ceased to me formulaic to a large extent, however, some filmmakers feel the need to introduce some fresh elements within its grammar. For example, one of the propositions being doing away with lip-sync songs that at times seems too unreal in today’s time.

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, who is the greatest proponent of playing with the Bollywood grammar, feels that it’s high time we pushed the envelope further. Speaking about it, he says, “I am not speaking for the world but I can speak about myself. I think it is high time we looked at the grammar of our moviemaking. For example, I don’t feel the need to retain lip-sync songs in my films. Somehow I don’t like that idea. Yes, it was fine till date, but we need to rethink its relevance as far as movie making is concerned in the contemporary times.”
Rakeysh is also kicked about his upcoming film BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG and is all praise for its lead actor Farhan Akhtar too. Speaking about the movie, the filmmaker adds, “I feel lucky to have Farhan by my side. He is such a dedicated actor. The movie is shaping up fine and may hopefully release by mid 2013.”
While Mehra has dared to think beyond mere box-office deliverables, let’s hope we get to hear from more filmmakers on same lines.
