Rani Mukerji and Shah Rukh Khan share one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved on-screen partnerships, having delivered iconic performances together over the years. From the youthful charm of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to the emotional intensity of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, their collaborations have consistently resonated with audiences. As Mardaani 3 hits theatres today, Rani reflected on this enduring bond and opened up about why romancing Shah Rukh Khan on screen has always come naturally to her.
In a recent conversation with Zoom, Rani spoke candidly about the comfort and ease she feels while working with Shah Rukh Khan. She credited his warmth and emotional generosity for creating a safe space for his co-stars. “I’ve always loved romancing Shah Rukh because there’s a different kind of love that Shah Rukh has for everybody,” she said. “Anyone who’s in his company feels that Shah Rukh loves them the most.”
The actress further shared that she feels most relaxed and uninhibited around Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. According to Rani, both actors allow her to be completely herself without any pressure or judgment. “I guess the love they have for me comes from the fact that they’ve seen me since I was 17,” she explained. “They’ve seen me grow from a little girl to a young woman, and now as a mother. They’ve witnessed my entire journey.”
While reminiscing about her personal and professional relationships, Rani is currently commanding the screen once again as the fearless police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani 3. The film opens on a dark and unsettling note, revolving around a child trafficking racket and the mysterious disappearance of several young girls.
As Shivani’s investigation deepens, she comes face-to-face with her most dangerous adversary yet—Amma, the ruthless leader of a beggar mafia that exploits children for profit. With her vast network and brutal methods, Amma poses a threat unlike any Shivani has encountered before.
The trailer promises intense action, emotionally charged confrontations, and high-stakes drama, highlighting Shivani’s relentless pursuit of justice at any cost. Rani returns to the franchise with renewed intensity, while Mallika Prasad delivers a chilling performance as the antagonist. Janaki Bodiwala, last seen in Shaitaan, also plays a significant role.
Written by Aayush Gupta and directed by Abhiraj Minawala, Mardaani 3 is produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner, continuing the franchise’s legacy of socially relevant and hard-hitting cinema.
