Saif Ali Khan has a reason to smile. His COCKTAIL has done very well and he can well heave a sigh of relief.
“COCKTAIL has done well with its target audience at multiplexes. Even though certain critics felt that he was repeating himself in the role of a lover boy, guess audience loves him in this avatar only. What else explains the fact that his last big hit was LOVE AAJ KAL which was again a romantic comedy,” says an insider.

Incidentally both LOVE AAJ KAL as well as COCKTAIL have been Saif’s home production.

“Saif took up serious roles like KURBAAN and AARAKSHAN but not many stepped in theatres. Then he invested so much in AGENT VINOD and tried to get into a cool espionage thriller setting. On the other hand it was all fun-n-frolic in COCKTAIL and the film has turned out to be the biggest opener ever for Saif. This clearly explains that Saif has a certain set image and he should benefit out of that,” a veteran filmmaker adds.
With over 35 crores coming in just three days and Monday holding up quite well too, Saif is smiling the widest with COCKTAIL success.
Says Dinesh Vijan of Illuminati Films, “From LOVE AAJ KAL to COCKTAIL, it is pretty clear that when it comes to core multiplex audience, Saif is enjoying steady audience footfalls. Of course we would continue to make films we believe in but given the kind of success COCKTAIL is enjoying, our zeal to make quality products would show in every project that we embark upon. As of now though, it is time to pop the champagne.”
