Shera, Salman Khan’s long-time bodyguard, is grieving over the death of his father Sunder Singh Jolly, who passed away on Wednesday at 88 after a long fight against cancer. Shera—real name being Gurmeet Singh Jolly—posted the devastating news on social media, writing, “My father Shri Sunder Singh Jolly has left for heavenly abode today.”
The cremation procession took place at 4 PM from Shera’s house at The Park Luxury Residences in Andheri West, Mumbai. Less than four months ago, Shera had shared a moving tribute for his father’s 88th birthday. Posting some of the old pictures, he said, “Happy 88th birthday to the strongest man, my God, my father, my inspiration! Every ounce of strength in me is because of you. Love you dad always!”
A Pillar Behind the Star
Shera has been a constant pillar in Salman Khan’s life since the mid-90s, his individual bodyguard. He initially made his mark during the late ’80s as a bodybuilder, but later shifted to celebrity security. He was part of Salman’s team in early ’90s and has since become a permanent fixture, spotted with the superstar at photo shoots, parties, and movie sets.
Apart from his official role, Shera owns his own security company, Tiger Security, which has protected a number of celebrity clients, including global pop sensation Justin Bieber at his 2017 concert in Mumbai.
Quite recently, Shera was featured in an advertisement by Swiggy based on Rakshabandhan, revealing a more light-hearted, personal side of the hulk-like figure.
Salman Khan’s Upcoming Project
Simultaneously, Salman Khan is also gearing up for his next movie, Battle of Galwan, which will be directed by Apoorva Lakhia. The film, inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley confrontation, will feature Khan playing Colonel B. Santosh Babu. It will start shooting in Ladakh in the first week of August.
