Sanjay Dutt’s Heartbreaking Confession: How He Overcame the Darkest Phase of His Life After Cancer Diagnosis

The Moment Sanjay Dutt Found Out He Had Cancer: A Chilling Story of Fear and Determination

Sanjay Dutt, an Indian cinema star par excellence, has forever resided in the public eye — personally as well as professionally. One of the most difficult periods of his life was during the COVID-19 lockdown when he was diagnosed with lung cancer. In an open conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, Dutt shared his emotional and physical battle to overcome the disease.

A Shocking Diagnosis

Remembering the day he first realized something was amiss, Dutt explained, “It was a regular day during the lockdown. I went up the stairs and was completely panting. Even after a bath, I couldn’t catch my breath.” After a check-up at the hospital, doctors diagnosed that over half his lungs were clogged with fluid. At first, there was hope it could be tuberculosis, but tests ruled that out too.

It was tough for his family to break the news to him. His sister finally mustered the courage to inform him. “I cried for 2-3 hours thinking about my kids, my wife, and life,” Dutt said. But after the release of emotions, he decided to fight.

Fighting With Strength and Positivity

With assistance from fellow cancer survivor Rakesh Roshan, Dutt identified a reliable doctor in Dubai and underwent chemotherapy. Defying the odds, he remained resolute. “They said I’d lose hair, vomit, be weak. I said to the doctor, ‘Nothing will happen to me.'”
True to his word, Dutt worked out during treatment — cycling for one hour after every chemo session and playing badminton for hours.
