Superstar Shahrukh Khan completed twenty years in the glamorous world of Bollywood yesterday.
Khan had made his first impressions in the tinsel town with DEEWANA on June 25, 1992. However, he did not play a lead role in the film that featured Rishi Kapoor and Divya Bharti. SRK, as Khan is fondly called by his fans, grabbed Filmfare best male debut award with his act in the film.
In the past 20 years, Khan has charmed his fans by playing innumerable characters ranging from the lover boy in DILWALE DULHANIYA LE JAYENGE to a NASA scientist in SWADES.
Khan tweeted on Monday, "20 uninterrupted yrs of serving. Not enuff (enough) talent or looks or game plan. thank u all. I guess i got lucky, lucky to be working all the time."
"Made mistakes, still continue to do so. A little madness. A bit of solitude.2 silly to realize its impossible & maybe thats y it gets achieved," he further wrote
In the initial days of his career, Khan had played several negative roles in films like DARR, BAAZIGAR and ANJAAM. However, his fans saw a different Khan when he arrived as the most lovable romantic hero named 'Raj Malhotra' in filmmaker Aditya Chopra's cult movie DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE in 1995. The chemistry between Kajol, who played the character of 'Simran' in the film, and Khan was appreciated and loved by millions of Indians since then.
Khan, as a romantic hero, kept charming his fans in several other films like KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI, KABHI ALVIDA NA KEHNA, MOHABBATEIN, KAL HO NA HO and RAB NE BANA DI JODI. It can be said that he undoubtedly gave a new definition to Indian romantic hero with his strong and passionate performance in each films
In his twenty years of career, Khan also experimented with his roles in several films like SWADES, ASOKA, DON: THE CHASE CONTINUES, DON 2: THE KING IS BACK, CHAK DE! INDIA, DEVDAS and more recently RA.ONE.
Pertinently, Khan shares a long and deep connection with Indian television as it was with the 1988 television series, Fauji, that he first made an impression in the hearts of Indian audience. He went on to appear in other television serials, such as Aziz Mirza's Circus in 1989, which depicted the life of circus performers.
2007 marked his debut as a television presenter with the Star Plus gaming show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. Khan also hosted 'Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain' and 'Zor Ka Jhatka'.
The B-town superstar is the co-founder of Dreamz Unlimited production company and he occupies the position of CEO and co-chairman of both the motion picture production and distribution company Red Chillies Entertainment and the animation studio Red Chillies VFX and is also co-owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders.
In 2012, Khan's KKR won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title by defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final match to lift their maiden title.
